Albany Segment

Today’s 9.4 mile hike was on the Albany segment which runs from Monticello to Albany in Green County.  It was a cold day, but it wasn’t windy, and the wind is hard to deal with.  I had on enough clothes, hand warmers and toe warmers, so it wasn’t bad at all.

The entire hike was on a bike trail, the Sugar River Trail.  This isn’t the first time that I’ve done a hike that also was on a bike trail.  There are other places that the trail follows bike trails.  We came across a point in the trail which intersected with the Badger State Trail It’s convenient hiking on bike trails because you usually run into a bathroom at some point.  Luckily the bathroom was still open today!  The bike trails can be boring though because they’re flat and straight.

Flat, straight, and kinda boring!

Today we saw a few deer hunters, a coyote or fox, a turkey, and some birds and squirrels.  The turkey was in the tree and decided to take off and fly away.  It scared the crap out of me!  We didn’t come across many people, just one other couple out for a walk with their dog.

There were a few bridges throughout the trail, which gave me something interesting to photograph.

Here is a look at today’s map.
